Welsh

Welcome to the Welsh Department!

Every pupil in year 7 to 11 will have the opportunity to study Welsh, looking at oral, reading and written aspects of the subject. The pupils will receive 4 Welsh lessons a week to develop speaking and writing skills in Welsh. Emphasis is placed on following contemporary themes of work that the pupils will relate to and enjoy. Pupils in KS4 will further develop their skills and work towards two GCSE qualifications, Welsh Language and Welsh Literature.

Students can also learn outside the classroom through various extra-curricular activities such as educational visits and talks with Welsh authors and poets. Studying Welsh can lead to several careers, from a teacher to a translator, solicitor to a newspaper editor
