2021 GCSE, AS and A Level Grades

Today it was announced that 2021 GCSE, AS and A Level grades would be awarded through a Centre-Determined Grade model. This means that grades will be determined by subject teachers based on the learner's work. AS grades awarded in 2021 will not count towards 2022 A Level qualifications.

Between now and the summer, teachers will continue to teach as much subject content and skills as possible to allow pupils to continue with their education journey. They will also use a range of assessments to form a fair conclusion of a learner's final grade. This could include specially adapted past papers; practical assessments and coursework. The coursework deadline has been removed, but teachers will be encouraged to use the work completed as a part of the process.

Our priority, at present, is to ensure that our learners continue to engage in online learning in order to develop their subject knowledge and skills. The majority have shown excellent commitment towards their learning, and we hope that they will continue to do so, safe in the knowing that they will receive grades that reflect their ability and efforts in the summer.
