Arrangements for Summer Term 2020

01/05/20

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support during the last few weeks. I appreciate how difficult this time has been for pupils, parents and teachers in adapting to a new way of learning. As we enter the holiday period, I would like to confirm the arrangements for the third school term which begins on the 20th of April.

Years 7 and 8 - Project work will end and work will be set by subject teachers on Google Classroom. The classes have already been created and the work will appear by the start of the new term. Remember that Hwb can be accessed on any device including a mobile phone. Pupils should do the work on Office (which is available through Hwb) if possible, or do it on paper and send a picture of the work to the teacher. If you do not have internet access at all, let the school know and we will arrange for paper copies to be posted. For assistance with any technological difficulties, please contact Mr Geraint Phillips at PhillipsG91@hwbcymru.net

Year 9 - Project work will end and work will be set by subject teachers on Google Classroom. We want pupils to get a taste of their GCSE subjects so new year 9 GCSE classes will be created to enable this to happen. Class codes for these subjects will be shared via email and also within the Skills Project class. Pupils will not be expected to complete subject work unless it is a core subject or one of their optional GCSE subjects.

Year 10 - Work will continue to be placed by subject teachers on Google Classroom. Please encourage pupils to complete the work set. Some pupils are producing excellent work while others do nothing.

I would like to confirm that there will be no examinations for year 10 in the summer of 2020. Further information will be provided in due course once we have received an update from WJEC.

Year 11 - Pupils should make sure that they send any coursework they have to their teachers, even if they are incomplete. I would like to confirm that there will be no examinations for year 11 in the summer of 2020 and that the grade they receive will be a centre assessment grade by teachers which will then be processed by WJEC. The final grade could be different from the one we send to WJEC. Please note that the school is not allowed to share the centre assessment grade with a pupil or parent.

For those pupils returning to Ysgol Morgan Llwyd's sixth form, transition work will soon be uploaded on Google Classrooms. The class codes for the classes will be emailed by Mrs Stanford in response to the application forms received. The email will also include final columns for options.

Year 12 - Work will continue to be set by subject teachers and Google Classroom. Year 12 pupils will receive an AS grade based on teacher assessment at the end of this year. If they do not continue with the subject, this grade will stand, but if the pupil continues to study for a full A-level, the AS teacher's grade will not count towards the final grade. Instead, the A-level will be decided on the basis of year 13 exams only.

Year 13 - Pupils should make sure that they send any coursework they have to their teachers, even if they are incomplete. I would like to confirm that there will be no examinations for year 13 in the summer of 2020 and the grade they receive will be a centre assessment grade by teachers which will then be processed by WJEC. The final grade could be different from the one we send to WJEC. Please note that the school is not allowed to share the centre assessment grade with a pupil or parent.
